Applications for deferment are available at the Fenton Township office and must be returned by September 14th to qualify for that tax year. This process must be repeated each year. Please include your telephone number on form.
Change of name and/or address should be promptly reported to the Assessing department. If you have sold your property and received a statement in error, please forward the statement to the new owner or return it to the office with corrections or name and/or address.
Please examine your statement closely to assure accuracy. Please notify our office of any possible errors.
- Failure to receive your tax bill does not waive interest and/or penalties.
The Genesee County dog licenses are on sale between December 1st thru August 7th only at the Fenton Township office. Dogs are now required to be licensed at four (4) months of age. Verification of rabies vaccination must be presented at the time of purchase. If your dog has already registered in the past, the county will send a filled out form to you in the mail. Our office will have blank forms available. Please bring prepared forms if possible.
Changes to the 2013 Dog Licenses:
Effective December 1, 2012 the renewal months will no longer be December thru February. The 2012 license will be extended to the month of the rabies vaccination, in 2013. Instead the renewal month will coincide with the month of the rabies vaccination. The license may be purchased the month before, the month of the vaccination and the month after only. Verification of rabies vaccination must be presented at the time of purchase.
At that time, the owner has the option to purchase a one (1) year or three (3) year license depending on the rabies vaccination expiration. The Township will only have the one year licenses available for sale. The three year license may be purchased from a veterinarian, Genesee County Treasurer or Genesee County Animal Control.
If your dog has already registered in the past, the county will send a filled out form to you in the mail. You will have the option to purchase your license the month before, the month of and the month after the rabies vaccination date was issued. This doesn't apply if the rabies vaccine is expired.
August 7th through November 30th, licenses must be obtained at either the Genesee County Treasurer's Office or Genesee County Animal Control. Contact (810) 732-1660 or (810) 257-3054 for more information.
